Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge - Pungo Unit - Snow Geese.
My wife and I spent the weekend outside looking at birds in eastern North Carolina. We visited Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge and the Pungo Unit in Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge.
Recently, I had to replace my aging camera. This new camera has video capabilities, which I began to explore on this trip.
After viewing this two and a half minute video clip, I know I am going to really like supplementing my still photos with the addition of video !!!
This clip shows was taken on January 16th 2012 just after sunrise. The birds were in the fields at the main entrance to the Pungo Unit. Maybe 40,000 birds in this flock. The air was clam so the camera recorded no wind noise. The birds made all the noise. I know I still have a lot to learn about taking video and an external microphone would have helped, but if you can turn your sound on and up.
